setting up portable hotspot

After configuing portable hot spot for this phone and saving the set up, I get the error message "Attention Network error occurred" and the feature does not work.

I know I am setting it up correctly because the process works fine on my other phone a Xperia S.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

 First of all check with your network provider that tethering is allowed in your subscription. 

If tethering is allowed I suggest that you try with another SIM card in your phone.
