Why can't I see all apps on Android Market like Yahoo! Mail client. Works on other phones but not X10???
There could be several reasons for that.
1. The specific app needs android 2.0 or higher, SE released the X10 with 1.6, but hey you got the great very high usable UXP Interface isn't that great? And you got those useless Timescape and Mediascape Apps so why bothering about the latest android version? I mean its a high end device noone needs the lates OS on it. Hope the next VAIO notebooks get released with Windows XP...
2. As on every other update so far SE forogt to send the new fingerprint to google early enough so now you have to wait 2-4 weeks until google unlocks this fingerprint for the android market
3. The app is blocked because of your provider or the country you live in
Hope this helps, think Jeff would have answered the same but propably at the end of the month because he lives in a different timezone.
Thank's for your help. Yes I obviously do not need the latest OS version as these usually contains bugs and normally come with a lot of features that I do not need. SE is helping me in avoiding these problems......In this case this is not the issue as the App according to the developer supports Android 1.5 and upwards. It is however a rather new app. (MailDroid and Yahoo! Mail). The app is not blocked by the operator as my collegue has an HTC with same subscription but obviously (it is HTC) 2.1.
What is these fingerprints that SE shall inform google on? Is it the fingerprint on the phone OS, then all apps should be blocked which is not the case?
I don't know how this fingerprint exactly works, but for me after every update in the last months there were several payed apps missing after the update and reappeared some weeks later withour doing anything. So every new firmware version needs to be unlocked by google.
Did you do an update to the latest R2BA026 firmware on you X10? Otherwise you could try that, or you could open Settings -> Apps -> Manage Apps (don' know the exact names I am using my X10 with german language). Then search for Market and hit the "clear cache" (or similar) button. Reboot you phone and hope it works.
If nothing helps you could reflash the firmware to you X10 via SEUS, but this will delete all your settings etc. And because I don't know if it really help you shouldn't do this step.
If you like to experiment you could root your phone and change the fingerprint to an older version.
