SD Card disappeared

there was an update this morning on my verizon xperia play r800 i accepted it like usuall and after the update everything seemed to be fine. i rebooted the phone and all of a sudden i was getting out of memory notices and noticed that the programs that were loaded on the sd card were not found. i went to settings>applications>manage applications and noticed i had no sd card showing, so i pluged in the usb cord to look at the phone and to my dismay it didnt do anything but start charging my battery. altho i have had this phone for about a year now and up till now have had no major issues with it orthe sd card, all of a sudden it will not mount my sd card.

i have tryed resetting my phone back to factory (wiped verything) and re-activated but this hasnt helped, it still will not mount the sd card. i have noticed that if i pull the battery cover off and pull the sd card out the phone does recognize that the sd card has been removed but when i put it back in all it does is reboot the phone and not mount the card.

please help

( memory card shoud be insterted)

Dialer / dial pad > *#*#7378423#*#*  > service tests > external storage

see if its showing "inserted/mounted"

If not then the hardware is gone

If yes then try with other SD card and see if it detects..... if it does then again insert the original SD card to see... if the problem exists means sd card is gone as one is being detected and other is not

if its doesn't detects any SD card but shows "inserted/mounted" then software repair is worth a try

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts,apps)

Update/Repair your phone via PCC OR SUS

PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).

Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)

Ooops.... i hope you read my line

see if its showing "inserted/mounted"
If not then the hardware is gone

Means your hardware is gone..... Unfortunately service center is the only option left for you...

But try following the other steps as well.. insert another sd card and see

i will have to go get another memory card to test that out... when you said hardware i was thinking my sd card, not the phone... i havnt had any problems with it till this mornings update thats somewhat coincidental isnt it?

Hmm, maybe something went wrong with the update that damaged something...

test with another sd to rule it out..

ot a new sd card... the phone will not read it, i plugged the old mem card into the computer everything is still there. called verizon and there sending me a new phone. thanks for all the help
