SD Access Error

SD Access Error

Hi

I have a Sandisk Ultra 32GB microSD card in my SP which 'sometimes' works...

After a power cycle it's fine for a while but then if I try to take some photos (saving to the external card), it will often produce a write error (can't save).  Sometimes when flicking through the album, it will freeze then refuse further access to the card.  I can't unmount/remount - fails.  If it gets in this state, I have to power cycle to recover access.  On two occasions, the phone has failed to power down... just hangs on the last screen before power down.  The first time I left it - battery went flat with the screen on.  The second time I used the 'OFF" button on the back.  I've tried a couple of different cards and it fails with both.

When it's working and I connect to a PC, data access to the card seems to be quite reliable.  I suspect a firmware bug as it would be unusual for the hardware interface to operate for a while then fail then be ok after a power cycle.... but if I'm the only one experiencing this then perhaps it's the phone itself.  It's only about 3 weeks old.

Wondering if anyone else has this problem?  I have a C5303 (Australian model).

Thanks, Craig

Sounds like it is the phone.

I'm using a Sandisk Ultra 64GB microSD without any problems, also on a C5303 device. The SD card was formatted in the phone as FAT32 if that makes any difference. I don't have any power or write issues. I've had the phone with the card for about 2 months.

Have you attempted a firmware update/repair since having this problem?

Hi Sam

I updated to the most recent firmware as soon as I received the phone (12.0.A.1.257).  The Australian dealer support people think it may be hardware.  I might try re-formatting the card from a PC and see if anything changes.

Also, do you know if there is any plan to allow movement or links to apps installed on sdcard1 in the next release for Xperias?

And finally, if you have any contact with the people who develop Music Unlimited for these phones.... can you suggest to them it would be a really good idea to allow 'offline music' to be stored on anything other than the internal 'fixed' flash... 8GB fills up really quickly!.

I have the exact same problem, on C5303, 2.245 firmware, same micro SD card.

Tried format again to FAT32 in windows 7, didn't see the problem for 3 days, THEN it CAME BACK...

Tried format again to exFAT, problem also came back...
