Screen slightly on after lock with app in ICS

Hi,

I am using an app to lock my screen (Lock Screen App) in order to not wear out the power putton.

I was using it on my Xperia Go prior to the update to ICS and the rest of my family is successfully using it on their phones (Xperia Arc S, Xperia Sola & HTC Desire S) which all of them are running ICS.

With ICS running on my Xperia Go I have noticed that the screen seems to turn off when using this app, but if you look closely you will realize that the screen still is slightly on and hence draining my battery. It works fine when instead using the power button to lock the screen.

This problem only occurs if I have any kind of lock screen activated in the security settings. Everything works fine if I completely turns off lock screen in the security settings.

I have tried with complete re-install of ICS and also by doing a repair, with no positive result. I have also tried other "lock screen" apps with no luck.

Any ide why ICS on Xperia Go behaves differently from ICS on any other device when it comes to locking the screen via this (or similar) apps?

Have a nice day ..... Malin

that's an app issue, you shouldn't worry about the power button, it was built for that

It's very easy to blame the app, but why is it working on all other types of phones running ICS?

It seems like Xperia Go have done some change in the API or similar.

As I stated above, I have also tried with several other 'lock screen' apps with the same result, i.e. it works on other phones but not on Xperia Go.

apps behave different on other phones, and that's up to the developer to fix this issues, not the OEMs

It's kind of strange that a number of different developers are forced to update their app's due to that a phone supplier makes an incompatible change.

It worked on Xperia Go prior to ICS, but something was changed in a not backwards compatible way when implementing ICS on Xperia Go.

I thought compatibillity was an important thing in the Android world.

anyway, contact the developer for any bugs and/or compatibility issues.

I have been in contact with the developer of this app to get a better understanding of the issue.

I was told that there is a weakness in Android 4.0.3/4.0.4 that forces app's that is calling the lock function 'lockNow()' to do a re-locking after ~1 second. This weakness has been fixed in Android 4.1.

The developer of this app also said that it looks like you (Sony) has tried to fix this weakness, but in a way that makes these kind of app's fail and there is no documentation available that can help him to do a fix for the issue.

It looks like it has to be fixed in the Xperia Go SW!!!!

I haven't heard/read about an OEM fixing or mod their firmware to make an app work. I doubt it'll happen

guide him/her to this website

http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/

he'll probably get some Sony feedback there
