Screen Refuses To Sleep

I use a USB cable connected to a plugged in charger to charge my phone while in work. It does charge the phone but it charges  really slowly, with the screen comming on every 5 to 10 seconds with a nice ~Tedaa~ noise. I try switching off the screen with the power button but it just keeps coming back on. 

Could the problem be that I have daydream set off. I do not have any smart connect profile for charging with the usb. 

My phone is away from my keyboard so it isn't the "tap to wake" function.

My other devices *cough* htc one charge fine from the same usb charger. 

Has anyone any ideas what is wrong with the phone, I was hoping the latest software update might have fixed it.

Have you enabled developer options?

Hi, this to me sounds like a connection problem......as in every time you lose connection then it reconnects the screen comes on as if you have just plugged it in.

Can you try it with a different cable/charger prefer. the original Sony one or is the one you use the original?????
