Screen locked during calls

Hello,

I have already written to the suuport gruop about my problem, but, I will write it here again. My xperia Z becomes uresponsive during calls, either when it is receiving a call or making one. So, everything goes black, I can not even termune the call I just wait the other party to do it. After that, I press 2 or 3 times the power button and it is all good, nothing else is wrong. I have already reseted the phone to factory setting and erased every app like...IMDB, Clean Master, Ringo Lite, Zedge, Blic, Viber. Nothing helped. In the last two days somewhat is different and now and then the phone is responsive during calls. I did not change a thing, even I have disabled mobile data. Please, help. The last option is to give the phone to service and it will take about three weeks ....

Sincerely,

Anjelica 54

Anjelica,

What firmware are you running and have you tried repairing the software using sony's PC software?

same here! had to pull the sim card to stop a call which had gone to voicemail whilst screen was dead..... this is a HUGE issue for Sony and will need sorting ASAP or I will have to change back to samsung as its really disrupting my day!

Do you have any cover, stickers or similar on your phone? Sounds like the proximity sensor on the top front of the phone is being covered. That will lock the display during a call.

The proximity sensor is there to lock the screen when you hold the phone to your ear during a call so that you don't press the screen by accident.

Excellent that worked or me thankyou, something so simple that hadn't crossed my mind sorry, feel rather embarassed haha!

That solved one Z1 out but my partners Z1 doesnt have a screen protector on his and yet his screen went down (unresponsive) yesterday, phone calls were coming in with no picture & the power button / volume keys did nothing to wake the phone up, battery was low (3%ish) and was put on charge when it happened. was only until he pulled his sd card out, the phone reset and it's worked fine since.

The believes it may be because its a cheap 64gb sd card?? The sd cards kinda works in both phones, playing media through walkman, even apps such as itv/iplayer doesnt always work. we also have issues when copying multiple files over from the pc. Any advice please?

Glad to hear we found the problem Slightly_smiling_Face

As you also have other issues when using this SD-card and in both phones i would try having the SD-card replaced. Sounds like there may be something wrong with it.

Its funny that a simple thing like blocking the proximity sensor would be overlooked.

But is this the issue that Angelica is having?

Hi,

With my Sony Xperia C (C2305) I sometimes see that screen goes blank during call. And even if Power button is pressed it doesn't wake up.

If I make sure there is no dust or blocking near proximity sensor it works ok but I feel its very sensitive. My question is why doesn't power button recover from the black screen issue during call. Currently as a workaround I have used option to disconnect call when power button is pressed in order to get back from blank screen.

For example during phone call if proximity sensor gets blocked (due to finger prints or dirt) then screen goes blank and even if use power button it will not recover sometimes. Please advise.
