Screen is dead

My Sony Xperia Miro ST23i has suddenly stopped showing anything at all on the screen - it is just black. The notification LED's work, the phone vibrates when I turn it on, but there is nothing on the screen.

Any suggestions?

Is the screen damaged?

Reinstall OS using PC Companion/Factory reset.
