Screen brightness issue!

Hello, I have the Sony xperia U and last night i went to bed i put my phone on charge and everything was fine. I woke up this morning and the screen brightness was very low! I have reset the phone, tryed changing the brightness but nothing has worked. Could anyone help me please?

There could a couple of different reasons for this however I would advise trying a software update as a first step to at least rule out software issue:

To repair the phone software
1.     Install PC Companion on a Windows PC from Support
2.     Turn on the phone, and connect it to the PC using a USB cable.
3.     In PC Companion, under Support Zone and click Start.
4.     Under Phone Software Update, click Start.
5.     Click repair phone.
6.     Follow the on-screen instructions.
