Screen Black when phone call is started - Application failure?

When I initiate a phone call with my Xperia Z5 the screen turn into black and I can't press any button or finish the call with the screen buttons.  This has been happening since around six months when an update was installed.  I tried all the fixes proporsed in some posts of this and other forums and there was no solution.  I have the 32.2.A.0.253 software version and I reinstalled with Companion and the problem continued.
The only thing that restores the calls to a nomal performance, temporally, is the Data Clearing of three system applications that have a phone as icon  ("Administración de llamadas telefónicas", "móvil" and "Servicios Telefónicos" in Spanish)
Is there any way to fix the problem permanently?
Is being Sony to prepare an update, as this problem has been reported by many customers?
Any help would be appreciate.
Regards,
Carlos

I'm also having this same problem. Very frustrating as i can't hang up at the end of a call especially when it goes to answering machines, i have to restart my phone using the volume buttons and power button together. Have also tried re-installing the latest software and scanning phone for any errors which hasn't made any difference.

Hope there is a solution to this as it's my only negative towards the phone.

All Sony xperia phones have a proximity sensor. (usually top right corner)

If you place an object there (eg finger or face) during a call or viber call your screen turns off automatically.

When you put your phone away from your face again (eg end of call) the screen turns back on

Wish my phone did that. As soon as i dial a numer before phone is anywhere near my head or any object screen goes black from there i am unable to get back into it. tried pressing power button multible time, shaking it ect nothing works. i just have to wait for them to hang up then my phone eventually comes back on or i have to do the old shut down trick and turn it back on. Really frustrating.

I beleive that there is no problem with the sensor, the screen goes black just when pressing the call button. Even with the phone staying alone.

I activated the accessibilityoption to end the call pressing the power button and I can finish the call when I want.

Hope it helps.

Proximity sensor test passed. I believe that the sensor is OK.

Thanks

Hello, sony has nothing to do with it nor the sensor, The screen is not sealed properly, got worn out. i have Z5 compact and i had this issue for over 4 months. i did everything possible to find the cause of this problem, i took it to repair shops, did factory data resets. then once my friend was using it and told me the top right of my screen is a bit out meaning the screen is not fully attached to the body of the phone which also mean if i go underwater the water will leak in causing damage. so the problem most likely everybody is facing is that the top part of the screen is disconnected due to poor/worn out glue. if you test it by making a call and once it goes black press on the top right side of your screen near the sensor not covering it though. Then press the power button. it should turn on. to fix it is to replace the rubber connector for the whole screen or to temprary fix it just remove part of the top screen and glue the corners to seal the screen so the sensor works properly. hopefully this reply help you know what is wrong. the issue is not the sensor nor an issue other than the worn out glue that disconnected the screen from the body. which in fact makes it not waterproof anymore unless you fix it.
