Roaming notification error

Hi.
My girlfriend just bought an Xperia U, It has worked well until recently when the phone started to whine that it can not connect to any roaming services and then it disconnects data connections until you reconnect again. The roaming service option is however turned off.

We tried updating to newest android version but that did not fix the problem.

And you have been in the same area as you have before? If the connection has somehow become bad you should first of all try switching the SIM-card in your phone. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend or colleague to see if the phone behaves the same in this area. If it does, there might be some hardware fault. If it doesn't, it's related to your SIM-card or your operator.

We've been in the same area all the time yes. Haven't tried changing SIM card yet but will try that today. I found by the way another topic with same issue here http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/64203#64203
The person seems to be from Sweden and we live in Finland so if he/she ordered the phone from Cdon.com as we did, Cdon might be selling faulty phones.

Is there any firmware updates available we could try?

Doubt that Cdon sells faulty phones, I'm working in the Nordic so I would have heard if they were selling all faulty ones. How long has the phone been behaving like this? Sometimes if it's just temporary (for a day or so) it's related to the operators base stations that cases the phone to think it's roaming. It happened to me some time ago and it turned out the base station I'm normally connected to had some issues with data traffic which caused the phone to try connecting to another operators net instead.

Of course you could try repairing the software, download PC Companion here:

Well it's been behaving like this almost since the day she got the phone. Started about a day or two after she started using it and now it's been nearly 2 weeks bugging already.
We'll check with the operator and come back.
