Ringtones

Anyone know of software or app that allows ringtones and SMS alerts to be customised to things other than the provided tunes.

No need for any extra software.  Just play the song you want to use as a ringtone, press the menu button (the one on the bottom left of the phone, anyway, whatever it's called) and one of the options is to 'set as ringtone'.  What I haven't been able to work out is whether it's possible to use more than one of your own tracks in this way - for example, if you wanted to use one of your tracks for one contact and another song for someone else.

@sushi: You can use different ringtones for different contacts. All you have to do is use the method you suggested so that the song you want is in the list of possible ringtones. Then go to the contact you want a specific ringtone for and select to Edit Contact. In the Edit Contact portion, you'll notice that the last drop down menu in it is called Ringtone; select this and then choose the song you want to use for that contact and you're done. Hope this helps!

@jrdwn - thank you.  Just seen your message.  I thought I'd tried that before and that I could only use one of my own songs as a ringtone.  I see now that the ringtones are in alphabetical order.  I'd initially assigned Baba O'Reily by The Who, so it was towards the top of the list, and later tried something further down the alphabet and must have missed it in the list!  I need to wake up occasionally!
