Retrieving data from device stuck in reboot loop

Hi there.

I have a Z2 that got stuck in a reboot loop after attempting an update.  I'd like to make sure I get a copy of my data before I hand it in to have it fixed.

How can I do that?

Thanks,

Morten

@morphex

I'm sorry to say this but there's no way to access the data if its stored on the internal storage.

As for your boot loop try this

  • remove the SIM and SD cards > connect the phone to a wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 10 seconds, if the phone its currently off, skip this step > let it charge for 45mins to 1hr > run PCC on your computer > support zone > repair > keep the phone off > follow the steps > repair the phone

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

Hi morphex

Welcome to the community

Sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing. I would suggest running a software repair on the handset. You will want to start these processes with the phone powered off and disconnected from the PC.

Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:

  1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
  2. Phone Software Update.
  3. Start.
  4. Repair Phone
  5. Continue
  6. Accept data removal
  7. Next
  8. Wait for prepare
  9. Select Phone
  10. Follow the connection steps

And Bridge for Mac:

  1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
  2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
  3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
  4. Select Continue on the following page.
  5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.

6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears

  1. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.
