Restore issue - Backup not complatible with phone?

Hello,

I have been having some issues with my Z2 (callers having trouble hearing me) I found similar issues writen in the forum and I decided that I would start by reseting the phone via Sony PC Companion.

Before doing this I backed-up the phone using the Sony PC Companion so I would be able to bring the phone back to the way I like it (settings ect). After doing this and following the wizard completely and carefully I tried to restore the "Sony Xperia™ Z2 (D6503).dbk" file however upon doing so the PC Companion says

Error adding backup

This backup is not compatible with your phone / tablet and will not be added.

I cannot understand why I am unable to restore the phone. It is not a case of the phone being updated as it was already up to date prior to me backing it up as I keep the phone in good order.

Basically I have backed up the phone and have tried to restore the .dpk backup file that had literally been written 2 minutes before but it wont let me?

Please, can anybody help me?

Are you sure no update procedure was done after the backup has been made?

Absolutely positive. The first thing I did upon installing Sony PC Companion was run the support zone and ensure my phone was up to date.

Power cycle the handset and computer then start the restore again. The PC Companion software isn't especially well written.

I don't know what your expectations are but there isn't very much that actually gets backed up....

In this case,just rename the .dbk file to .rar and extract what you can.
