Always found it odd that Sony doesn't give the restart option when clicking the power button, am I missing a trick?
Press and hold power & volume up until the phone vibrates, about 5 seconds > the phone will restart
Hi, very interesting.
Just tried this, twice, and just shuts the phone down, doesn't restart. The first time I held both buttons until the phone vibrated, like you said, but it just shut down. The second time, I thought perhaps I have to hold both buttons until I see the screen come back alive (like iPhones and iPads), but still, it only shut down.
Am I doing it wrong?
Once the phone vibrate you can release the power & volume up keys, it will turn on, just wait for it

Nope, doesn't do it.
It should work unless you are pressing both volume keys and/or you don't press and hold at the same time
uliwooly, thanks for trying to help, but my phone definitely doesn't restart. i just tried it again, exactly as you said - hold power and volume up together, the phone vibrates about 4-5 seconds later, and the screen goes off. i let go of the buttons, and as i type this, about 2 minutes later, the phone is still switched off - it hasn't restarted...
Are you certain that nothing is pressing the volume up and/or any other key? perhaps a protective case?
Absolutely certain. No case.
As you may have seen in my other thread, I'm having some other odd issues with the phone, such as asking for language selection upon every boot, and swipe input not working everywhere... Perhaps it needs a factory reset (I'm much rather not do this, but will, if it seems necessary), or is just a dud phone. It's only about a week old.
