Hi,
I recently got charged by my mobile operator (EE) in the UK when my handset converted what was supposed to be a standard text message into an MMS message without warning. I never send picture messages/links/emoticons so I'm looking for a way to disable MMS on the Z1. Would deleting the MMS APN do the trick or is there a better way? The stock messaging app doesn't seem to have any settings relating to sending MMS messages.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

Hi Thommo,
No there was nothing in my message that should have converted to MMS. I'd received a text from someone I didn't know and simply text back, 'Wrong number?' It only cost me 33p and to be fair to EE they've refunded it to me but I'm just a little worried that it might happen again, possible multiple times and cost me an arm and a leg. I have no need for MMS so was hoping to just disable it somehow and forget all about it! Do you know if that's a possibility?
Thinking back I received a txt like that and I was charged for sending a reply so I wonder if it was a cheap premium number set up which looks Innocent but charges 20 pence - 20 pence from lots of people saying wrong number soon mounts up, So now I don't reply
So I don't think it's your phone however I would as I did pop to my networks store and have them check - I'm with Vodafone and were great with me - The wife is with EE and they have been and still are great with her
Yeah, that was my first thought when I saw the charge, but EE confirmed there was no premium on the number and that I had been charged for sending a standard MMS. It's the first and only time it's happened since joining EE in Feb of this year. They were adamant that it would have been the phone software that converted from SMS to MMS and that there should be an option somewhere to prevent MMS being used. Not the end of the world though, I'll just have to keep a close eye on things.
