I have been looking forward to this feature on my Z3c and it was finally released yesterday. Connecting to my PS4 and using the touch screen controls works flawlessly. However, as soon as I connect my DualShock 4 via Bluetooth, lag and connection issues occur. Turn off Bluetooth, and everything is fine again.
I experienced a simular issue with a Moga Bluetooth controller a few weeks ago - after it was paired with my device, my Wifi connections became intermittant and unstable, even when the device was disconnected. Eventually fixed the issue by deleting the controller pairing from the Bluetooth settings.
My point is, is there an issue with Bluetooth and Wifi conflicting with each other? I have tried changing settings on the router but I am convinced the issue is on my phone. Bluetooth works fine, Wifi is fine, but both together I believe there is an issue.
Does anyone else experience the same problem, or have a fix? I was looking forward to Remote Play with a DS4 but at the moment it is unplayable.
bought the 5ghz BT N600 upgrad kit, very easy set up and only cost me £11.99 !!!!! factory refurb on amazon and new they are now £20 but can get new on amazon for £16
anyway connect Z3 to 5ghz , its a new password and then i held down my finger on old network on Z3 and it comes up with "forget old network" so i made it forget the 2.4ghz network
I have connected PS4 via WI-FI onto 2.4ghz and not via ethernet and it works fine, a few moments of lag but its possible.
I will be using my 50m cable to connect via ethernet and il post back
but £11.99!!!! bargin 2 years warrenty too
Connectivity issue,
Hey thought I would post I was having the same issues as a lot of other people.
PS4 on power over LAN adapters dual bound Wi-Fi router 2.4/5 GHz and constant drops unplayable.
Done some searching and found a fix which has worked so thought I’d share what I found with others. (this isn’t something I figured out just something I re-worded and thought I’d post to share)
Someone mentioned in a post they thought it was the Bluetooth taking priority over the Wi-Fi which I’m also leaning towards cause I was having the same connectivity issue without the DS4 synced but my Mi Band (fitness thing) synced and having issues connecting but once discounted was fine.
Anyway this requires you to create a 2nd PSN account. (Will require another email address)
Also the DS4 will stay connected to the PS4 so will only be good if it’s in range for me its ok cause I sit right below my PS4 upstairs and it works fine.
PS4.
Login with the 2nd dummy account.
Z3
Best to clear the remote play settings first.
On the Z3 phone itself settings/apps/downloaded select remote play clear cache and data. (This will clear the DS4 connection to the phone)
Open up the remote play app sign in with the 2nd (Dummy account) you might run in to an issue where you have to go to the PS4 and manually add the Z3 connection under remote play settings just follow the on screen instructions on the phone and should be fine.
Next grab your DS4 which you might need to reconnect and sync to the PS4 or grab a new one and push the PS button it should bring up the Select user screen select your normal PSN account that you play games with. This will keep the DS4 synced to the PS4 but the Z3 will also still be connected via Remote play by passing the Bluetooth issue.
Worked a treat for me changed the remote play settings on the Z3 to high and no issues.
Wall of text yes I know sorry.
Hi, I'm replying for anyone still experiencing issues to help you out a bit with some technical details.
Currently connected on my home network on an Apple Air router with my Playstation 4 sitting 1 meter away from the router on the WiFi connection and my phone playing from all 4 rooms of this apartment without lag or problems. Have currently played for 2 days total without connectivity issues, aside from when I begin downloads on my computer.
Here are a few facts to help you solve connection issues you're having.
1. There is sadly no LAN-direct connection over network allowed by Sony. This requires that your WiFi connection to the router where your Playstation 4 is connected to has a fast bandwidth. I tested it a bit and it looks like 8Mbps is enough down speed, and upspeed about 4Mbps, but more is smoother.
2. If you're still having connection issues on a slower connection of Internet connect your game console to the router using an ethernet cable and turn off its WiFi.
3. I have tested the following games/apps: Trine 2, Apocalypse Nation, Killzone Shadowfall, Driveclub and IGN Network videos application. Note that I haven't tried online games yet. Online games could change the performance but coming from working with programmers I know that the bandwidth for an online game is so low that it shouldn't effect your connection so much unless you're under 8Mbps down/4Mbps up.
4. Be sure that your xPeria phone, tablet, or PS Vita or other Sony device has the latest update. I'm currently running Sony xPeria Z3 with Lolipop (Sony version) which is the newest Sony update in your About Device menu to check for updates. If the green checkbox is there, you're good.
5. On an ending fact, I recommend running a miniumum 10 down / 10 up connection and when your family member or yourself is running another computer in the house, ask that person to kindly turn off the WiFi temporarily so you can enjoy your Playstation 4 experience. When friend who lives with me comes home from their job, I get minor lag, but I am connected on a 50/50 connection.
Hope this helps and GAME ON!
Hello there.
Yes! We are the 24/10/2015, I bought the brand spanking new sony Xperia Z4 tablet wifi and... I run into the exact same issues as everyone else.
For a 600€ piece of Hardware, the fact that it does not plug and and play, or rather connect and play, is not acceptable
I tried port forwarding, bridge mode, flight mode (with wifi and bluetooth on...go figure) on the tablet, change the channel of my wifi and so on. No luck whatsoever.
My WIFI is not 5GHZ, it was never mentionned that this was a requirement nowhere.
I do not want to do the "dummy account workaround" if I bought this piece of hardware, at this price, it is because I expect things to run out of the box. Not having to "DIY" and messing around with wireless settings. Otherwise I would have rooted my android device!!
We cannot even connect directly to the PS4 like a PS vita would do. The image quality is choppy. When only using on screen controls, it works fine, but as soon as the DS4 conenct to the tablet, it is a catastrophy.
I am very disapointed
Hello all,
SO i have a Z3 compact tablet, i am having to keep it on 4.4.4 as if i upgrade the remote play function works less well.
The issues i have is that on 4.4.4 it works flawlessly (bar image isnt great) on high on both settings
If i upgrade to any other firmware it only works flawlessly if i have the frame rate set to standard not high. If i use high there is noticable lag!!
Can someone please fix this!
Apparently even after having to compensate US customers for marketing a non-existent "remote play" functionality between the Vita and the PS3, Sony has created and marketed another "remote play" functionality between Sony Android devices and PS4 that basically works only on paper...
Do they ever learn?
First post here but not first with same problem
Z3 here
my ps4 is hard wired to router ( cat6 ,wrt54gc-old one 54Mbps) my plan is 20/5
i had serios issiues to get it to work with ds4 connected actually i never get it to work ,worked with touch control qiute ok /720p/ and standard framrate ( with high settings noticable lag )
So i found workaround to get connected with DS4:
first pair and connect ds4 with desired device ,disconnect it from top menu and then connect Phone/tablet with your ps4 via Remote play to ps4 ,after press PS button and you should be connected even if in first place you could not .
Im very suprised that it worked qiute well on so slow router
Played Destiny online with some artifacts and lags but even on that weak router was playble, in couple days will have dual band or AC and will report back if that changed .
And now cons of that connection :
NO CHAT possibilty !!! its very werid that when connecting with other account ( mentioned workaround ,which partialy worked for me ) ds4 stays connected to ps4 directly with no lag AND can chat throug headset ,i even played Destiny with mates and worked online but in moment i switch accounts connection crush on Z3 !!???
Im no expert when comming to infrastracures but for god sake ,SONY ! make chat possible for remote play even is that will REQUIRE AC routers or dual band routers exlusevly , we got VERY expenssive devices which we GAMERS , are using to play at YOURS devices .
Its your forum and there are not going to be better feedback than this ,first post is 14 months ago and ppl still having issuies with RP ,we giving you here precious info make use of it!
With regards your frustrated customer....
EDIT:
Just got my Tp-Link AC1200 Archer C5 ( 867Mbps over 5 Ghz ) and SONY GCM 10
it came out that my internet plan is 30/10 so from ps4 menu ive got 28/8 ,29/9 and its constant . i know for RP is not important
But back to main subject ,
i have connected ps4 by LAN cat.6 cable (gigabit certified around 1m long) my z3 is using 5Ghz network ,test when in use RP by conventional way 2 meters from router and ps4 :
320p/std FR -almost no lag
540p/std FR - lag
720p /standard framrate - lag
320p/high FR -lag
540p/high FR -more lag
720p/high FR - not playable horrible lag!
tests with second account workaround are alot better ,have very little lag so playing FPS (Destiny in my case ) are doable....but still cant paly with high FR even with fast router
So i wonder how fast router need to be to get rid of latency or its even possible ????
EDIT 2 :
Ive been testing remote play very heavly last couple hours and ive got some suprising results ,
after using two diferent WIFI monitor apps on Z3 itself and logging utility from router menu.
I maxed out settings to 720p/std FR ( FR on High change almost nothing)and played various online AND offline games and werid think is that in both cases Remote Play is using just barley under 10Mbps
Played Driveclub ,Blacklight Retribution ,Warframe,Resogun,Bloodborne,Destiny all off and online not even one suprassed 10Mbps mark i even pluget out ethernet cable from modem to play totally offline keeping only local network powered .
I think the limitation is implemented on PS4 side and til they allow to push more data there is nothing we can do to improve RP from our side .... i just hope that Remote Play will not stop here ..........
