Hi,
Recently like two days ago phone got wet at the beach. It was not saturated however now not functioning properly. Unfortunatley when the phone got wet it was on and nearly flat and charging off a portable charger.
I submerged in airtight container fillled with rice for two days and not having any luck when trying it now.
When connecting to power supply it displays the sony logo on the screen this goes off and after a short period is displayed again. After a few cycles the red light (charge indicator) came on this displays for a few minutes then goes of and the phone tries to boot again. same as before. sometimes the reparing system screen is displayed after the Sony logo. On occasion the green light appears. I have tried doing the hard reset this appears to work system repair screen comes up then goes off and cycle starts again.
I need to get the photos off the phone as they are important for work. Is there a way the phone can be dismantled and memory accessed or is there a less destructive approach.
Thanks,
Ben
Addionally when connecting to PC the pc connects and disconnects many times and says 'One of the USB devices attached to this computer has failed'.
The memory you speak of is a chip not like cheap fakes where there is a SD card inside - So there is no way unfortunately to recover photo's etc from your device
You could try repairing your phone and I say this because of the phone you have as photo's etc should not be erased if doing a repair as they are stored on a separate chip to that used for the system - If that fails then you could try contacting Sony care here to see if they can help further than I can
Thanks for the reply,
When you say Repair what do you mean exactly? Do you mean taking it to a repair place and seeing if they can fix it? Or a software fix (I cannont get a stable enough connection to the PC to run pc companion)
Try switching off your phone so hold volume up and power until you feel 3 vibrations 1 after the other - Not 1 on it's own 3 will come soon after then hold volume down and connect the USB - Does it hold a stable connection - If it does then Flashmode works which is what's needed to run a software repair via PC Companion
No Luck unfortunately. I got to the third vibration and plugged in the USB while holding the volume down. No sign of a flashmode. Phone continuing to cycle between Sony splash screen, switching of and occasionally repairing screen.
Well some good news. Phone is working this morning access to files is now possible. Seems the problem is lying with the USB port on the phone (move the phone and it losses connection). Will try spraying some contact spray in there clean it up?
I left it charging plugged in over night and when I woke it had about 50% battery must have charged bit by bit inbetween cycles of turning off. I did try the method you proposed again this morning before turning it on with the holding down respective buttons and connecting the USB cord. Did not see the flash mode but the repairing screen did come up on the phone. Whether or not that had any bearing I don't know but thanks for the advice in any case.
Im not going to get fired LOL.
Regards,
Ben
So some good news in the end - As for the USB port it could be that it has some slight corrosion from the water albeit minor but the contacts are very small so even a little water could cause damage or it could just be a coincidence that the water happened at the same time as the port started to show signs of wear and tear - It may be what's known as a dry joint meaning a terminal contact is ever so slightly loose and moving the USB cable when plugged in makes a contact
