sometimes when i touch the recent apps, the apps appeared as well but other times it appear and then the apps just disappear in less than a second, i have this problem from 2 weeks ago and i don't know what is the problem.
Probably a third party app acting up, you could boot on safe mode for couple of hours, if you don't experience the same issue then it is a third party app as safe mode will disable all third party apps.
