Receiving someone else's facebook notifications

Every so often I get a text saying that someone has added me on Facebook or someone will update their status and I will get a text saying what it is. However, these messages are coming from someone else's facebook, not my own. I am connected to mine on my phone, but I haven't received any of my own notifications, only someone else's. Does anyone know what could be going on here?

If its a text message then it sounds like someone has input the wrong mobile number on their facebook account, ie your number.  I don't know what you can do about this on your handset.  It may be worth contacting Facebook to see if they can trace the account using the mobile number given, unless you can see the person's name that the facebook notifications are coming from and contact them via PM on facebook itself.

are you getting emails or sms? if you are getting emails then its phishing so be careful (phishing = The fraudulent practice of sending e-mails purporting to be from legitimate companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as credit-card numbers, online.)

I don't get emails, I just get random texts, the sender is just a short bit of numbers and for instance, when someone sends a friend request it says to reply with a text saying "add" to accept the request. I will try contacting Facebook to see if they can help.

Well Facebook doesn't have anything better than a bug report to contact them with. Any other ideas/solutions?

Does someone have any expierence with this feature?

I have never used the text notification feature myself and since someone probably have entered your number instead of his/hers own it's probably not possible to turn this off via your FB account.

I'm guessing there should be a "stop" message you can send to Facebook from your phone to stop these notifcations.

I have noticed some similar problems on Facebook itself, but I am not sure if it is Facebook problem or SE problem, because those problems are on SE page in Facebook.
