reboot loop

Hi, my phone has been stuck in a reboot loop .It reboots every 20 seconds or so, shows the sony logo, the andriod screen and then starts with blue "waves" welcome screen , then restarts. it doesnt remain functional enough to use the pc companion - as it reboots so frequently the software cant detect.

i've tried hard turn off (volume up and power, as well as the button under the sim card slot, loading with the sim and sd cards in and out and every combo.

any advice? pulling my hair out...

Hi rymac14,

Welcome to the community,

Can you advise what happens when you hold the power button and volume + key for around thirty seconds, is the device vibrating three times and if so does it simply start the loop again?

Hi Jake - me, but on another account.

Yes, it vibrates 3 times and turns "off" . when i turn on , it goes back into the loop.

This sounds like a Boot loader issue, in this case I can I really suggest a software repair. This can be done with the device powered off. Try using the steps below.

Note: make sure the handset is not connected to the PC until the last step.

Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:

1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps

And Bridge for Mac:

1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.
