So i was updating my device to the latest Android Lollipop update. Everything seemed to be going well until i saw an Android robot icon on the screen with a red caution sign. I looked this up and found that this was the Recovery Mode sign, but there were no recovery options available, I tried several different combinations of buttons like Power button + Volume Up, It makes the phone vibrate 3 times then shut down and when i turn it on again, the android icon with the red caution sign shows up again. I tried Power button + Volume Down, It did nothing. I tried connecting it to my PC to try to fix it with the companion and my PC made the 'Connect Sound' but like 1 second after that it makes the 'Disconnect Sound'. I really don't know what to do anymore, The phone hasn't even been a year since i bought it. I think it's still under warranty but i really want to find a solution without having to send my device in for repairs. Also note that the Loop only appears when the phone is charging, when it's not it doesn't loop it just gives me the Android Robot with the red caution sign and shuts down. Thanks for your time, I hope to hear from you soon.
Hi,
I suggest that you perform a software repair via PC Companion, this will reinstall the latest version available for your phone.
In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it. Note that this will erase your personal data and since you are unable to boot the phone correctly, you will unfortunately not be able to make any backup.
I am sorry if i wasn't clear but PC Companion does not recognize the device at all. I also forgot to mention that i also tried to power it on without SIM Card and SD Card. So far it looks like it's only me that's having this problem. Thanks for your time.
But did you try to perform this software repair that I mentioned in my previous post? When you do this, the phone should not be powered on and not connected to the PC until this repair guide tells you when and how to connect the phone. If an update fails, this software repair will most likely fix the problem since the software will be reinstalled.
The PC Companion gave me an error, it said “Unable to run update components on your computer.” I checked the Sony Support page about it and i tried the solutions but they didn't work. I really don't know what to do anymore, It's a great phone, I don't wanna lose it, I really hope this problem is fixable.
