Ray st18a - Bluetooth Issues after ICS

The Play/Pause button on my car stereo no longer pauses or starts play of music which is playing on my Ray through the car stereo.  The car stereo is a Sony MEX-BT2700 (Bluetooth standard 2.0 - AVRCP profile).

Next/Prev continues to work.

I tried deleting the stereo from my bluetooth devices and re-pairing, that did not help.

This is happening with multiple applications (Sky.fm - Pandora), all which worked fine when I was running Gingerbread.

Something is broke.

P.S. My phone is a stock Sony ST18a, not rooted, not carrier sub-sidized.

BUMP  -  Is no one else using bluetooth to stream audio to a car stereo?

Thanks for taking the time to check.  I also tried device remove and re-pair but that did not help.  Luckily with Sky.fm ... ICS provides a playback control on the lock screen that wasn't there with gingerbread.  But that's just a feature of the Sky.FM app.

Something definately changed with the AVRCP bluetooth profile and how it works with ICS.  So far play/pause does not work with:

Native Sony Music Player

Sky.FM

Pandora

I have exactly the same problem with AVRCP.  Used to be working fine with my new Ray with 2.3 - been using ACAST for my podcast and AVRCP was working fine (very happy with that).   However, once upgraded to Android 4.0.4 (build  4.1.B.0.587), this no longer works with ACAST (and another other 3rd party player).  The stock music player is still fine with AVRCP though.

I am a heavy user of bluetooth and this is extremely frustrating as a 2-week Ray user.
