"storage full" xperia automatic back up "could not back up" - Xperia XA Ultra

Hi,

I had enabled for Sony backup on a weekly basis in automatic mode. So it started yesterday. It was directed to store to SD card. But it hogged the internal memory and threw "storage full" error. I believed that internal memory usage was for temporary purposes before moving to SD card.

Due to space constraints the backup was terminated, but the internal memory from storage is not yet released back and the device is almost full.

Can someone suggest any opinions on how to remove those files and free up the space? or i shud only do format to regain the space.

if there isn't free internal storage you won't be able to backup your phone.
