There are a few ways to do that, simplest...

  • Use Walkman app to browse to the song/audio clip, long press on it and select "set as ringtone"
  • Go to settings -> Sounds -> Phone ringtone, Select (& run) Sound picker, tap on the icon at the top right corner and navigate to the sound clip/song.

Thank you but when i do that, my download isn't there to select. It's in the play music app but i can't see how to move it from there. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Use File Commander to find the location of ringtones,if you downloaded ringtones via your mobile then it should be in the download folder of "Sdcard0" (i.e internal memory). You should create "Ringtones" named folder in memory card (sdcard1)or in internal memory.move all your  ringtones to the "Ringtones" folder then you can see every ringtones in settings manager. After doing this it will not show in walkman app

Thank you all for your patience!

If you can't find the files with a file commander it seems like the files aren't downloaded to your device. Maybe the Walkman player just stream the music from the website you tried to download from.

You can try to download the music using another browser from Google Play.

Also you can try to add the music ringtone by going to settings > sound > ringtone > press the note in the upper right corner to get to your music library. If you don't have the note in the upper right corner. Go to settings > apps > the tab all > media storage > clear defaults.
