Proximity sensor issue during calls.

During calls my screen flashes on and off  which has lead to both me accidentally muting the mic , ending calls and accidentally putting it on loudspeeker. it only does this during calls . i cant turn the screen off with  the power button as it just ends the call. 

at the moment i have a screen protector on which was supplied with the phone , could this be the issue ? also if not can you give me suggestions on fixes. Thanks

I don't see the image, but if it covers the sensor, it could be the cause of your problem.

It doesnt cover the one sensor i see  *i see the front camera too

Not sure I'm addressing your issue . Just to record what I know the "power button ends the call" option can be disabled by changing the setting. 

Setting -> Accessiability-> Power button ends the call (uncheckout)

I have the same issue ..but I tested proximity sensor using xperia diagnostics app from playstore, it works fine,... I couldn't find any solution till now, but tryin to use headset for important calls.

proximity sensor is working very bad, "hold line" button often pushed with a cheek while a conversation

Try a factory settings reset or a software repair with Sony update service.
