This may be different depending on which country/region you're in so i would recommend that you contact your local support (http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/) for more information. Where i'm located there's no registration needed for warranty. The proof of purchase (receipt) is enough and warranty is counted from the date or purchase.
