Problem with screen recording

Whenever I screen record I get an error message saying "cannot save screen recording" or something along those lines. It is very irritating and I am starting to feel as though I wasted my money on this phone (Sony Xperia M4 Aqua).
Please could someone help me out?!

1. press and hold the power key
2. once you get the pop up menu 
3. press and hold "power off" 
4. Boot on safe mode should become available
