Problem with internal storage being used as external SD card

Hi,

Spotify just told me that that I did not have enough disk space to continue downloading. I have a 32 gb card, with 22 gb availale.

No matter what I do, it seems that spotify and every other app I use only use the internal storage space of aprox 4 gb. Then I

found this trick/link in another post here reccomended by a Sony Moderator (or whatever they are called) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984322 (its the "install an older version of spotify trick")

Problem is that the filepath auto suggested by Spotify, and approved of Sony is the filepath to the internal 4 gb. Not the memory card. What is the filepath for an external SD card for my Xperia GO? Both filepaths in the link you suggested are invalid on my GO. So this solution does not work. Please do not start saying that this is the individual app maker's responsibility because it is the same with EVERY app. Instagram is also sent to the internal storage when I try to send it to the SD card. The "move app to SD card" function found in "Settings" just sends the apps to the internal 4 gb.

Only Videos, Photos etc are reccorded on the SD card.

The only thing I am asking for is how to get my offline music to my memory card? Like I could do with my old HTC Wildfire S, also running Android and the latest Spotify version.

And yes, I know I can upgrade to the ISC 4.something, but I am having a hard time findig a Xperia GO user here that reccomends doing that. By what I have read in this forum, the SD card issue is not solved in ICS either.

Looking forward to a solution:)

Andriod: 2.3.7

Build: 6.0.B.3.184

(and no, its not rooted or jailbroken)

Yes i know man and it sucks! I think Sony purposefully did that with all the latest Sony Xperias (i had Sony Ericsson Xperia mini before Xperia go and i could place games/apps to SD card but not here ._. There are some HUGE games on Google Play, especially Gameloft's games which are 1-2 gigabytes and i can't install them because there are no room for them. I really hope Sony would "fix" this in JB update but i highly doubt that:/ And the same goes for your Spotify offline music unfortunately. What have Sony been thinking?!?

Are you SURE it's not down to the individual App?

I don't use Spotify, but I have many other App that happily save/read files on the external SD card, E.g. K9 mail, MM_Tracker (A mapping App), Camera Zoom, Gallery Apps and the Music player App.

BTW, the pathname to the external card is "/mnt/ext_card", so your music should go in a folder called something like "/mnt/ext_card/Spotify"

That path needs to be set in the "Settings" or "Preferences" menu within the App, Moving the App to the SD card doesn't change were it will store it's data.

I'm currently running GB(6.0.B.3.184), but I have "downgraded" from ICS, the file paths were the same there.

i beleve this to be the same problem i had with the xperia go same a you i had a 32gb empty sd card . i spoke to sony about this to little effect so i did a bit of digging my self and this is a common problem there is 2 soltutions i have found so far depending on your setup

1.if you are rooted take a read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943643(if i cant post links please remove)

2 if you are not rooted i read a way of a app that you could use to link the sdcard to the real sd card with folder links there is some info somewhere on xda
