I have done encryption and using 4.2.2 OS Version and I'd like to decrypt my phone and SD Card.
The problem which I found is
Indeed the only way to do so is by doing a factory reset.
Settings -> Backup & reset -> Factory data reset.
Hi,
before sending in my Xperia Z to Sony for warranty reasons, I backuped all the data by using the Xperia tool "Backup & Restore". With the new firmware installed, I'm not able anymore to recover the phone from backup since it says that the backup isn't compatible with new firmware. Now I would like to recover at least photos and contacts on my PC and I can see files in my backup folder. However, the files are encrypted so Windows isn't able to read them.
Is there a possibility to extract this information from the backup?

Hi there,
My Xperia Z is encrypted - with the standard option in Android (Security > Encryption)
My SD is crypted to --> This is mandatory for my Exchange mail.
My question is, how I can "full" backup my device with Sony PCCompanion ? Becasue in this state, i get an error message from PC Companion when i try to backup. The message is like "your device is encrypted".
YES AND ??
Of course the next suggestion addressed several times on this forum, is no applicable
1. On the phone, go to 'Settings'
2. Under settings, select 'Developer options'
3. Scroll down and enter 'Desktop backup password'
4. Enter the older password and leave the new password fields blank
5. Click Set backup password and then try to backup again
Thanks for your help / recommendation ! I really want to weekly schedule a full backup of my device .
A+

No idea ?
Uninstall PCCompanion and never use again ?
I'm doing a Backup for my Xperia Z phone using SONY PC Companion for the first time. Everything has been smooth and well but after 3 tries, Backup was unsuccessful. Message says: "Backup Error. The operation could not be completed, because your phone/ tablet memory is encrypted." I just started using my brand new SONY phone about 2 months ago. I've not done anything different or special to it or to its settings. I have no idea how I might have encrypt it at all accidentally but don't think I did. What can I do?
You will have to decrypt your phone before you can create a backup
I am using an Xperia ZL for the last two years and was looking for an answer to take a backup on my encrypted phone. I had to encrypt this due to our corporate policy. I want to move to a newer model - Z3. All the posts I am seeing tell me that I just cannot move without losing all my data. This post gave some hope but the thing is I cannot find "developer options" under settings in my phone.
Is there still some hope or do I need to reconcile to losing all my data ?
