Hello,
I have a problem and I think my solution is a factory data reset. (a reset might solve, or if not, I want to do it before send to fix)
But I don't want to lose all my data.
Music, photos, videos etc I have in the SD card, don't need to be backed up. Contacts are in sync with my google's account - don't need backup too. Messeges and call logs: same thing. But I want to backup my applications' data. I tried to create the backup file with adb, but ever when I typed "adb backup -all" it showed "Now unlock your device and confirm backup" (anything similar). Two things:
1. The screen to enter the password and conffirm backup simply doesn't appears.
2. I forgot the password.
(Doesn't it need root, right?)
After, I checked the folder where adb is, and there were a empty "backup.ab" file.
I think with a temporary root I could download titanium backup, backup the data and reset (reseting would also erase my password, right?). And after, one more temporary root to restore..
But I've not found a way to do this and I don't want to get permanent root, even if I can un-root.
And I saw that it's possible to disable pattern lock with the adb shell and sqlite commands (/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db, anything like this), so is there a way to get the password like this? (probably won't solve beause the screen that conffirms the backup doesn't appear, but I have curiosity :smileysilly:)
PS. Any chance to backup home shortcuts also?
PS2. Sorry if there are mistakes with the English!
Thank you all
if you don't remember the password you do need to have your phone rooted to be able to backup your phone through a PC.
