Hi, I am experiencing problems call roaming with my Xperia Z (home operator in Sweden) in Germany. Network coverage works at one moment, before disappearing the next moment without changing the location of the phone. Both other Swedish mobile phones and German prepaid phones show constant and good network coverage. Sending texts doesn’t work as usual – messages aren’t sent directly but queued for sending although network coverage should be available. Making and receiving calls isn’t possible either – callers hear the message that the number dialled is temporarily not available – despite 100% network coverage! Network coverage sometimes reappears when calling out, but usually "no mobile network available" is shown. Trying to manually reconnect to a network from the list of available networks usually leads to the message that connection isn’t possible and that one shall insert a SIM-card or choose an available network. In some cases coverage is indicates by the usual bar icon, only sometimes the R for roaming appears in front of it. Switching from automatic to manual doesn’t seem to be possible.
My operator doubts that a sim card failure is the problem. I was wondering whether someone has an idea how to troubleshoot this. I would greatly appreciate any help/advice! Cheers!
Haven't heard about this before actually. You could try to change the network mode under Settings > More.. > Mobile network > Net mode. If you have the phone set to prioritize LTE it might cause issues if the operator in Germany doesn't have or allow LTE connections. Put it at WCDMA/GSM instead.
