Hi

I have today got the Sony  Xperia Z1 Compact work with the BMW idrive system. I first connected the Xperia Z1 Compact to my computer and it worked. After this test i paired the Sony with BMW and it worked. All features worked with emails, phonebook, sms, audio and telephone.

Why I don't know.

I will keep you updated if any new problems occur with the Sony. There is no changes on my BMW.

I have similar problem with my Xperia Z1 Compact (D5503) phone that has Android 4.3 (14.2.A.1.114) and suffers very annoying issue with connection over bluetooth to headsets (Car Audio system - in this case - Peugeot 508SW).

On previous phones (Iphone 4S) it was fine.

It disconnects from this car kit (bluetooth connection is broken) every few minutes, Sometimes it happens just during the driving, sometimes when I activate/deactivate GPS or activate/deactivate WiFi (it then disconnects paired device almost immediattely).

For some reason sometimes it looks the issue is gone for 1 day, but next days it appear again and again and is very annoying thing !

How are your current expierences on your BMW car now ?

Sony Xperia Call center in PL just told me to "install some 'bluetooth car kit' app from Google play" and it maybe will help..."

I installed one (Xperia Z1 Bluetooth media fix" but it looks it didn't help 😞

I am sure the BUG must be fixed ASAP by Sony - I'm awaitinn new (1.36 or .142?) compiled kernel...

Does Sony fixed that in new kernel ? Can Sony react here and answer ?

Hi

I have tested the  Xperia Z1 Compact with BMW idrive and the Xperia disconnects after 15-20 sec.

So I will go back to my old blackberry when I use the car.

I have tried to pair the  Xperia Z1 Compact with Samsung HIFI system. I worked but the audio was choppy and crappy so not very useful.

So the advice to speak BMW  will be extended to speak to Samsung.

However I will not change my nice BMW  to annother car because of telephone.

I see many posts with the same issue (started with "big" Z1)

and it annoys me very much !

My Z1 compact phone (still 14.2.A.1.114 firmware - we don't have .142 available yet...)

is unexpectably disconnecting the Bluetooth connection.

with help of 3-rd party application ('Xperia media fix") it's maybe little better, but in 15 min drive, when I use also GPS or only phone connection, it happens 1-2 times that it's disconnected and won't pair automatically again.

SONY - FIX OUR PHONES ASAP !!!

here is another example of samw story "Bluetooth connection problem" on our forum

I don't have a problem connecting to my BMW, however when in a call over the Bluetooth (in the BMW), from time to time the phone loose its bluetooth speaker and turn over to the telephone speaker/microphone. To overcome this I have to click on the phone first to connect through the phone speaker and then back to bluetooth.

This i s a very annoying bug, I would say!!

Anyone else expering this behaviour?

I am having problems with connecting z1 compact to BMW bluetooth, it does connect but repeatedly asks to connect to contacts I do allow it but just says please wait and nothing happens also bad connection, it isn't clear and occasionally cuts off. My iPhone connected fine and my partners galaxy s4 is fine. Does anyone have a solution?

Let's ask Sony Support...

Dear Support - I believe you read this forum and I would kindly ask you to respond

When the connection issues (Bluetooth) will be resolved ?

(you can refer also to my Xperia Service Center reqyest - reference number is 1-1107001015)

It's a problem with android 4.3/4.4... Google screwed up the bluetooth stack completely in those versions.. I believe that Samsung use their own version of the bluetooth stack as I have used a s3 that was upgraded to 4.3 with no problems on my navi 800 system.. Using the 4.3 version of Sonys rom (290 and 136) it doesn't work.. Using a phone when driving is illegal in the UK.. Thanks FOR NOT FIXING THIS SONY... I reported this in early December and it's now March good customer service.. NOT

Hi

Thanks for the information regarding bluetooth and Android. There is some more information here http://developer.android.com/about/versions/jelly-bean.html.

It seams there is a feature " Android 4.3 extends the multiuser feature for tablets with restricted profiles".

So Sony is this something causing the bluetooh connection problem or is there any settings I can change Xperia Z1 Compact ?
