Problem calling contacts using voice search

Hi,

I've been struggling to get my Xperia S to dial contacts or to set up a text message correctly.

I have watched the instruction video, however what's happening is that when I say 'send text to trent' those words appear in the message field, instead of preparing the text message to trent from the contact list.

If I say 'send text', the text box appears.  I can then dictate a message just fine, so it's not that it isn't recognising my voice.

Other times it will open a google search for the persons name I've spoken, as opposed to setting up a text or dialing the contact.

I have done some research about this elsewhere, and there's talk that you have to have all the phones contacts synch'd with google before voice search dialing works.  Is that right?  Also, do I need the language set to US English, or is Australian English okay?

The big question is whether or not there is anything that can be done at the user end, or if it's a google server end issue.

I know a lot of people have been struggling with this, so any advice you can give would be very helpful.  The voice search app is current, and I've also tried clearing the data buffer and reinstalling it, to no effect.  At no time will it select the contact, it always just adds what I've said into the message of the text.

Thanks.

regards,
