In short, I want my phone to swtich to Alarms Only, automatically at 10pm until 7am the following morning - I have set up the automatic rules set-up for this.
However it never switches over when I have the phone already in Priority mode.
Am I missing something here? Shouldn't the switch be occurring irrespective of what mode the phone is in?
I'm using Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 by the way
Hi @daherlihy,
Just to clarify, you set your phone in the Priority only mode before the automatic rule is supposed to start?
I've tested in an updated device here and works the same way for me. If the phone is in Priority only previous to the automatic rule kicks in (and the automatic rule is to set the phone to Alarms only) then the phone remains in Priority only, I'll check if I can get some more information on this.
Hi Didrik - yes you got it correct.
So you are unable to select anything other than Priority only in an Automatic rule? Are the options greyed out or do they just not exist? Could you post a screenshot of what is displayed when you try to change what Do Not Disturb modes are available under Settings > Sound & Notification > Do Not Disturb > Automatic rules > Press a rule > Do not disturb?
(removed - incorrect information)
Does this only happen for pre-existing rules or does it also happen when you create a new rule?
just 1 rule (I deleted the previous ones)
Could you post a screenshot here (or send me in a PM) on what you see when you attempt to change the Automatic rule?
Have you also checked if you are still unable to change this setting if you create a completely new rule?
Here's a video to recreate this issue: https://goo.gl/photos/mf31vKa3boyS2Md57
As you can see, I reset the rule to kick in with Alarms Only at 16:56. The phone is in Priority Only, and once it went to 16:56, it didn't change over - it remained on Priority
Would the key to this problem be at 0:37, where the notification says "Automatic rule set to turn on Do not disturb during specific times"?
Given that the phone is already in a DND mode (i.e. Priority), the device is choosing not to change the DND mode? I presume this is what is happening, but the rule should be applying ALL of the automatic rules if the option is given within in ...
