Poor wifi capture

When i use my laptop in the same place where i use my phone, i will get better signal of Wifi. But my XP's WiFi catching capacity is too low that it struggles to find that wifi network. I have to go near the door to get connected, while my laptop works well and fine in the same place. Is this a software issue or poor wifi hardware in phone? Any fixes regarding this issue?

Same problem here. PC, Laptop, e-book reader (also from Sony), all work fine and have a nice and strong signal. Xperia P has lots of issues like low signal, long reaction time and often interrupted connection. Even right in front of the wifi router.

I would like to know if thats normal or if my device is defective.

try restarting your wifi router and then connect the phone again, have you tried it?

Already tried several different routers. It is not a problem with the router.

i would say its better for you guys to repair your phone using PC COMPANION or SUS..you can download it for free..all the steps for repairing is in this site..after repairing your softaware try a factory reset and hope your problem will be fixed.

Yeah, well, I "repaired" my brand new phone and the result was as predicted: none.

i tried comparing the wifi status of a laptop and the xperia P and concluded that laptops are of course more powerful than xperia P its a phone, and it has a different set than a standard computer/laptop. it is normal that laptop will have a huge edge over a phone especially with connectivity with wifi. but if you're having a huge problem with it, thinking that it is not a good thing well having it repaired and nothing happened its time for you to visit a sony center near you. they will probably give the solution to your problem if its a hardware or software problem.

I agree somewhat. A laptop with integrated WLAN might be better in any case, but as I said I also tested an e-book reader from Sony, which also has a much better recpetion and I also have a tiny Wifi USB dongle on my PC that is at the other end of the house, which has 3 times as good reception as the XP and still get a good signal where the XP will simply drop the connection.

time to try reparing your phone software with PCC or SUS
