Having almost everything from Sony (TV, AV-Receiver, PS3 (soon PS4)) I only recently came across the fact that Playmemories Online is a great way of not only having a quite complete substitution for the Photostream functionality from the iOS world, but also to have the photos available directly on the TV.
However, there is one major drawback that should be corrected as soon as possible: As you know, all photos that are automatically transferred to the cloud are resized to 1920x1080. If you want to preserve the original resolution of your photos, you need to transfer them manually.
I understand that the resizing might make some sense in order to make more use of the 5GB of cloud space that Sony is offering. On the other hand, having in mind that Playmemories Online, alongside with already existing 4k TVs (I actually own an X9) or the upcoming PS4, would be a perfect way to enjoy 4k photos, it seems to be kind of stupid that photos are automatically resized. The option to transfer photos manually is not really feasable for me.
I would expect that there is at least an option in the settings where the user can choose whether or not auto-uploaded photos are downsized or not. Having in mind that Sony claims to be the vendor with the most comprehensive 4k infrastructure to date (and I personally agree to that) it makes absolutely no sense to have such a barrier in place, let alone the fact that this barrier is on THE ONE place where 4k content is actually already available today - photos.
