Hi, I have recurring problems with playing playlists on my phone. They often disappear. In the past I have managed to fix it by restarting the phone, or I used the file explorer to find where the playlists are stored and then click on one and they all loaded up. Last week however they refuse to work. Walkman can see all of my music; however it refuses to acknowledge the playlists. Ive taken the card out and put it back to no avail. Are there any ways to fix this? Is it possible for Sony to look into it as in my experience playlist integration is poor. I had 59 playlists in total and I managed to have them working for a month... Which was a record on this phone!!
I guess these playlists are stored on your SD card? If they are, transfer them to your PC and format the SD card, then put them back and look for them in the phone. I suspect this is related to the SD card rather then the phone.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. They are stored on my SD card - to be honest I use a mac and at the moment the Bridge software isnt working on my computer so I can't try it. I can see the playlists still on the phone's Astro explorer app, so I know they are there. When I click on one it actually loads the walkman app automatically, but it doesn't load any songs on the playlist. I'm just wondering if it isnt reading the playlist file properly? I'm hesitant to believe that it is an SD card issue because walkman can see all of my songs and artists - its just playlist files that it is ignoring / cant currently read properly.
Ah, I think I read your post a bit quick. I thought you couldn't see the playlists at all (even in file manager). If you can see the playlists all the time via file manager it does indeed sound like a problem with the Walkman player rather then the SD card.
Have you tried clearing data/cache for the Walkman player?
Do you have the backup of the playlists ? If yes, then once clear the Data and Cache of the Walkman app and then restart your phone to try again !
NOTE :- As you said that you can locate the path where your playlists are stored on the SD card, so don't move them just copy and paste it to any other place before clearing the Data of the Walkman app. after clearing the data if the playlists are deleted then please pasted those files again at the same place.
Try this hope it works
Thanks guys, I gave it a go and it partly worked.
Interestingly there was no cache to clear - does this sound correct? Also there were two Walkman apps, one was 148kb and the other was 3.86mb - again not sure if this makes a difference?
I copied a playlist file from my sd card to my phone. Nothing seemed to change. Then I had to restart my phone again as my camera failed (surprise!!) and it actually found the playlist. I could only see this playlist though. Then I had to restart my phone again due to my camera (surprise!!) and I the playlist was there again... so I went into astro and selected the playlist on my external sd card and it seemed to remember it (even though i think it was using the playlist file on the phone?!). Once I had done this, the phone loaded all of my other playlists. It is really really bizzare. Is there anyway Sony can have a look at this at all? It must be some kind of phone problem and how it deals with playlists?
Thanks,
Rob
