Physical keyboard issue

My phone is not recognizing when I open the physical keyboard. I do not ever use the soft keyboard and it used to be the case that I would never see the soft keyboard as long as I had the keyboard tray open.  But lately, I cannot make the soft keyboard go away. I have not upgraded to ICS or made any other changes to the settings.

And it is not loose or anything.

Sounds like it would be wise to try performing a repair of your phone's software.

I downloaded this software but I did not see a Repair option.  The only options it gives are Software Update and Recycle Your Phone.  I don't know if I am ready to do the update to ICS.  I keep reading about all these horrible things that happen to folks who upgrade.

How do I just Repair?
