My Z1 compact has mainly worked fine for me that last two years. A normal day I make a few calls, some surf (some mobile + some wifi) and battery is normally at 60-70% in evening. I charge phone overnight and when picking it up in the morning, battery is 100%. I also sometimes use wifi hotspot to share internet so my tablet.
But a few weeks back, if I use my phone a bit more during a day, I see that it shuts down at approx 50% battery. Going from 50% to "zero" in a few seconds. Phone worked fine with battery on high percentage.
But yesterday the phoneshut down and now I can not restart it. It did not feal hot when it happened. When pressing the button: I see Sony text screen, android text screen and a few seconds of desktop background (with no icons on), I hear the startup sound but then screen goes black.
If I press start button again - same screeens are shown and then black again.
If I connect charger I see message about phone overheated and charging will continue when phone colled down. BUT this is false - phone is not hot, not even warm and it was not when it shut down either.
I guess either my battery or overheat sensor is the problem.
I tried two recovery procedures that does not change anything:
First: keeping the littel red off button (beside SIM card slot) pressed for two minutes. Phone vibrates occasionaly during two minutes but when starting up - same as above.
Second: Used PC compainion to repair and re-install phone software, but still same issue.
Any more thing I can try before sending it in.
Bad thing is phone is 2 years and a few weeks so it just beyond warranty. Feels very bad, that it breaks just after 2 years - is it programmed to do that? 🙂

Hi @PatrikTo,
I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with your phone.
After reading your post the first thing I would have suggested was to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion, which it appears you've already done. If that didn't help it might unfortunately be related to hardware, it sounds like your battery is acting up.
In order to send in your device to an authorized service centre contact your Local support for local service and warranty procedures.
This issue just happened to my wife as well... and the phone managed to charge up to ~60% but the message persists and it won't go beyond that point...
And there is no way that the computer recognizes it, so even if I manage to charge it up to 80% I don't think the computer will see it...
There is no Sony local service here in Venezuela, and I can't send it out... the phone was bought last october so it doesn't even have a year old... but this message is a very strange and disappointing way to brick the device...
Please if someone knows a DIY fix let me know.
-------------UPDATE----------------
On a random day I decided to give charging a chance again, and strangely it charged no problem up to 100% (while off).... I tried to turn the device on, and after a long while displaying "Optimizing x out of xxx apps" it managed to turn on...
However the device turned itself off again after almost being 2 days powered on.... and refused to completely boot even when the battery was over 90%
Today I decided to do a Software Repair since I managed to get the battery over 80% as required by Sony Companion app, so after doing so, the phone started as usually and seemed ok, but after being out for about 20 minutes for lunch, I came back and the device was OFF....
I really don't know why this is happening, the device is completely blank, without any accounts, no SIM, no SD, and even the Battery Health (according to *#*#4636#*3*) seems to be "good".
The phone has less than a year with her (but no international warranty with amazon), and I don't feel like spending any more money on it.... should I try and get a new battery? if so, it will be my last effort to fix this device.
Sent it to repair and Sony accepted to fix it depsite it was a little more than 2 years since it was so well taken care of. Got some help frmo my mobile operator as well, from where I bought the phone. Working again now.
