Phone not detected in PC Companion

When I connect my phone through the USB cable to my PC, the PC Companion could not detect my phone. After I reboot my phone and reconnect my phone to my PC then the PC Companion recognizes my phone..Has anyone had this issue?? By the way my phone is running android 2.3.7 (6.0.B.3.184).

When you perform the first connection, do you get sort of response from the phone or PC indicating that the connection has taken place?

When I attempt the first connection, my phone and PC diplays nothing but my phone is at chraging state but after I reboot my device, I reconnect my phone and the notification bar display "Internal Storage connected". Is this a bug or something??

You may have already attempted this, but the phone screen should be unlocked. Then only the PC can detect the phone.
