Phone not connecting to computer following a trip to Experia Care

A litte while ago I sent my Experia to the Care team because the power button wouldn't work anymore (the phone was on at the time but wouldn't turn off) I know not what the issue was but I have received it back this week and now can't put my music on it as my computer doesn't recognise it and not even their own software (even after it "repairing" my phone) will recognise it. As a part of their service I received a software update and I beleive this to be the issue.

Can anyone tell me if the means has moved? I used to do it by plugging it in (without the screen lock on) and clicking on the experia icon under My Computer on my computer, selecting the external storage and copy and pasting my music library (of some 8GB) onto the SD card.

Update: When I received the phone back I also noticed that a small crack going accross the bottom right of the screen had meraculosly disapeared, I was charged for work I didn't want done as it didn't affect the phones capabilities.

I've heard of some Pc's not connecting to phones because of the USB port or due to a faulty cable, Also check that your phone is in MTP mode via Settings then Xperia connectivity then USB connectivity

My phone is in MTP mode and the lead works because it both charges it when I plug it into a 230V-3pin adapter and makes Win 7 go Bong when I plug the lead into my phone and the reverse when I remove it, the issue is its not being recognised.

Thanks for your opinion though. Every little helps.

Open device manager then connect your phone and look for any error that is linked to your phone then try the manual method of updating or uninstall the driver then scan for new hardware

My Sony Xperia M is now fixed, I went through 2 people (one on Friday and one today/Monday) and the second eventually told me to right click on the USB icon (Win 7), this can be hidden by the up button that reveals all the icons th the lower right of the screen. Open Devices and Printers and then figure out which refered to my device (unpluging and plugging the usb cable will reveal this). Mine was listed as Android in an undefined catagory. Right click on the Icon and select troubleshoot. Win 7 will do the rest.

Steps:

1. Plug in phone.

2. Right click on "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" (refer to image if you can't see it)

3. Right click on "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" (refer to image if you can't see it)

4. Select Open Devices and Printers (refer to image to for window)

5. Deduce which icon refers to your phone (unplugging and plugging the USB cable should work)

6. Right click in the icon and select troubleshoot.

7. Let Win 7 do the rest.
