Phone Memory

Phone Memory

I have an Xperia C bought in Hong Kong and I noticed that the phone memory is partitioned into two sections: Device Memory (0.98 Gb) and Internal Storage (1.23 Gb). The problem is, the phone can only install apps into Device Memory and it's getting increasingly used up, making it harder or impossible to install large apps. I've moved all possible apps into my memory card, and disabled many more, but with even then, I have less than 500 Mb left.

Meanwhile, Internal Storage is untouched since I have all my media in my memory card instead. Is there any way to merge the two partitions together? It's seems like such a waste since I have 1.23 Gb on my phone that I can't use even though I need the memory.

In that FAQ, they mention:

Please note that in Sony Mobile 2013 products, “Internal Storage” is now the combination of what was previously known as “Device Memory” or “Phone Memory” (for applications and their data – also previously known as “/data”) and “Internal Storage” (for user’s content – also previously known as “/ sdcard”). The reason for this change is to make the use of available memory more flexible, and also to enable the optional encryption of user’s content.

But I still have 'Device Memory' on my phone which stores only App data. The Internal Storage is entirely seperate and is unused. Is there an update that merges these?

There isn't unless you root your phone

This memory issue is troubling me also, all the apps are stored on phone memory or sd card and the Internal memory of 1.2 GB remains blank, so what is the use of it ?
