Hello everybody.
So, this morning I've connected my Sony Xperia to my laptop and Sony Companion suggested an update for my phone, I let it happen, and as all updates, the phone turns on while it's updating (and connected to the laptop of course). So i leave and come back and the installation has stopped. I try to turn my phone on, but it won't go on. I disconnected it from the laptop and turn it on, and it goes on but it stays on the "Sony Xperia" screen, all black, with only the text. I waited an hour and still nothing. I turned it off with the power + volume technique, and it went off, turned it on again, and it was stuck on that same screen again, and it's just stuck like that.
Please do help.
Thank you
You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
I can't find repair on PC companion. I've tried the little red button earlier as well and that did nothing. As I mentioned earlier aswell, I already did the volume + power button. I've connected the phone to the laptop while holding volume down and a little red light blinked, and that's it. I get the sound notification from my laptop that a device was connected, but nothing happens. Also, I can't turn my phone on at all when connected to the laptop, I don't get the vibration after holding the power button, but when not connected I get the vibration after holding the power button. Just now, while my phone is connected to the laptop, the sound notification that a device was disconnected went off, and the screen went on, but also stuck on"Sony Xperia".
After it checks the software version,it allows you to repair.
It requires me to turn the phone on, and the phone's stuck on that screen.
You don't turn the phone on - Your phone must be switched off then when prompted holding volume down connect your USB cable then this will enter your phone into flashmode and start the repair process
Alright sorry about that. I did as you said, kept the phone off, held the volume down button and connected my phone to the laptop, 2 minutes later the phone went on by itself, though still stuck on the same screen.
Have you charged it for about 2-3 hours?
I've charged it over night last night and basically barely used it, the charge should be above 60%. I'll charge it for an hour though, just incase, and do what you guys told me again.
If nothing helps, sorry to say but you should stop by a sony service.
