I put all my contacts on my phone from my sim card, great no problems, then opened a gmail acount which was usefull for editing and adding email addresses to the contacts. But I now have a problem where, if I add a new contact to my phone, say a name and mobile number, it will soon disapear when the phone synchronises with gmail. The only way I have found to add new contacts on the phone is to put them in gmail first on my lap top. I know It is possible the stop synchronisning but surely gmail shouldnt take contacts off my phone?
Synchronization works based on a timely behaviour (Syncing the latest change). If you edit your contacts on your phone then that will get automatically reflected on your mail account. Do synchronization immediately after editing the contact on your phone. This may resolve the problem.
No, that doesnt work, the new entry on the phone disapears as soon as the sync is performed?

Have you got different groups in your mail contacts? I mean friends, family, phone, starred in android, etc.? Well have you searched for the deleted contact on your phone? You have got an option to set which group in your gmail contact has to be displayed in your phone. I think you have set it to some other group other than the phone. Take your contact and click the four square button and you can see the group to display option immediately after the option to import sim contacts.
