PC Companion

I use the sony ericcson pc companion with my xperia mini pro. However, the "backup" tab is missing from the onscreen tabs on my computer, the same applies to my ability to use the computer to send texts while the phone is connected. If I connect my old phone, all of the tabs are there.

Does anyone know why?

I have deleted and re-installed the pc companion software a couple of times, but it makes no difference. My phone software is also up to date.

The phone is less than one week old.

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php I'm guessing your old phone wasn't an android, so try using My Phone Exporer to back up your phone and send sms via the PC, instead of PC companion.

I have downloaded and installed "my phone explorer", but it says the phone is not connected via USB, but the phone is connected, because I can open it up in "my computer".

I have myphone explorer connected and running. I followed the link for desktop etc, but all I get is the myphone explorer download page. I cannot see desktop etc.

I have also tried all of my usb settings. The phone definately is connected to the computer, but "myphone explorer" cannot see it.

Open My Phone Explorer--File (top left)--Settings--Connection--select Phone with Google-Android OS--Connect via-- (select)-USB cable or a different type of connection.

Otherwise, try rebooting your PC with the phone connected and/or restart the phone while connected to the PC.Hope this helps.

Success,

I went into every option in my phone settings, and disabled and re-set the lot. One thing which I did alter was "USB debugging". I applied that.

I then connected the USB cable, and right away the computer started installing new drivers.

I then ran the "My phone explorer", and was able to connect.

Many thanks for your help, I do appreciate it.
