PC Companion

I have just bought a new laptop that has Windows 7 64bit operating system. Downloaded PC Companion last night but when I plugged the phone into the laptop, it failed to load the drivers. Is this a known issue? I have an Xperia Neo.

Which function are you looking to perform between phone and PC? I only ask as depending on what you are trying to do you may not even require the installation of this program at this time.

Wanted to back up my contacts and transfer some music to my phone. Just tried it again and my phone was found and everything seems to be working ok.

I know its slightly off subject but something that is really starting to annoy me is that I have created folders on one of my home screens like travel, shopping and games. I have dragged apps into the folders but if I switch off my phone or plug it into my laptop, next time I look the apps have gone. Really fed up with this. Am I doing something wrong?

that doesn't sound right, try to move the apps to your SD card

settings -> applications -> manage applications -> on SD card

see if that solves your issue

for future reference

here are some methods to backup your contacs, apps, etc

Use one of these links to download the Backup & Restore app

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

https://market.android.com/details?id=org.openintents.filemanager&feature=search_result

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email
on your computer
-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import
Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

Not applicable

Probably not. Not sure if the following workaround will help you.

Can you try this.  When this happens again, can you perform an SD card Unmount on your phone itself.

Go to the phone settings menu --- Storage --> Unmount SD card.

When the card has been unmounted, remount the SD card.

Then check whether you see the apps in the folders again.

The apps are still in their folders. There is another issue which keeps occuring. When I press the grid icon to look at my apps there are gaps in the grid as I scroll through the screens. At the moment screens 1-4 have 16 apps on them. screen 5 has 7 apps on it. Screen 6 has 14, screen 7 has 14, screen 8 has 15, screen 9 has 16 and screen 10 has 5. lost count of how many times I've re-arrange these apps. Slightly_frowning_Face
