Paypal Here Reader doesn't work?

Anyone have any experience using Paypal Here card reader on the Xperia J?  I've had paypal send me both versions the black striped and the white striped plugs.  Neither seam to work in my xperia, however borrowing a friends Samsung phone to test them both seem to work in it.

In the Xperia when I plug the reader in the phone recognizes that its plugged in however you can't hear the high frequency "electronics sound" that you can when I plug it into the samsung phone.

Any ideas?

According to PayPals website this reader is only available to a small set of merchants at the moment so it might be hard finding anyone with experience of it here (but i could be wrong).

Not sure if this applies to this reader but there are two standards for 3.5mm jack, CTIA and OMTP. We use CTIA in Xperia J. If it uses the microphone line it should also not require more then 2V. I recommend that you check with PayPal what standard and voltage they use to see if it might be a compatibility problem. Other then that i think this needs to be investigated by PayPal.
