Phone tends to overheat when a lot of battery is being consumed. This is normal.

People have reported temp of 40 degrees.

For optimum performance, the product should not be operated in temperatures below -10°C(+14°F) or above +45°C(+113°F). Do not expose the battery to temperatures above +60°C(+140°F).

It is normal for the phone to be overheat when you are using tethering mode as it consumes alot of battery power. Just for your extra information even other brands such as HTC, Samsung, Motorola and etc will tend to overheat when their device is on tethering mode. If you want to use in on longer use and prolong your Xperia Ray lifespan. Try to put the phone under a table fan or some source of cooler. This will efficiently flush out the heat generated due to thetering mode. Hope this helps. As this steps keep my phone cooler no matter how long i theter it. Just don't go 24/7 😃
