Overheating all the time!

I have a Sony Xperia Z2, I have only had it for about 5 months and it overheats from just using the phone. I googled it and there is no solution, it only comes up with overheating from using 4K camera but I never use that, if I play a game for less than 5 minutes and it gets too hot to even hold, or touch. Also, when it starts to get hot the WiFi starts to act up and it says it is still on and connected but I cant use the internet

Hi jordN, welcome to the community!

The device may heat up if you talk, play games or music and transmit data for an extended period of time however the internal controls maintain a safe operation. If it is heating up after a short period of time then I would advise contacting Sony Xperia Customer Care in your region as soon as possible to have the phone assessed at your nearest service centre - you can find contact details by clicking on the link in my signature.

I have had phones, MP3 players, and GPS devices that get slightly warm during charging or normal use - but the Z2 gets hot!

One time I was riding a motorcycle and had the Z2 in my shirt pocket, and it got so hot that I had to make an emergency stop and tear my gloves and protective clothing off to get at the phone.

It was very hot, and left me with a red mark on my chest.

This happened just after an OS update, and shortly after that, WiFi and Bluetooth failed and the battery failed to charge.

I have just got it back from Sony Repair who just replaced the battery, but it still has the same faults.

I suspect something with the battery chemistry - anyone know if it is IMR, ICR, IFR, or something else?
